The goals of software measurement
Software measurement helps to improve the understanding of a software. It provides the necessary information for the assessment and management of a software project. As the assessment plays an extremely important role in the software development process the goals of software measurement are formulated as follows: Assessment: as evaluation of a given situation in a special environment comprehension of the used methods recognition of the characteristics of the development components identification of development problems Indication: as determination of certain factors or indicators for special characteristics performance evaluation lines of code analysis reviews and milestones CMM level 5: as model for the integration of software measurement in the process improvement measurement-based method comparison controlled software development optimization of software production
