The process of metrics validation shown in Figure 3 is influenced by the relativity of the software development components:
  • product or project relation (depending on the type of product/project)
  • methodology relation (depending on the applied development methods and paradigms)
  • basis software relation (depending on software and hardware platforms)
  • team relation (depending on the team structure)
  • company relation (depending on the management and marketing aspects)
  • time relation (depending on the actuality of all software components such as documentation, program files etc.)
The multi-dimensional character of each measured component results in a specific development complexity:
