Description:
The AMI Tool (Application of Metrics in Industry) [Ami93]combines the experience of different European projects (METKIT, MUSE, PYRAMID, MUSiC). It pursues a strategy consisting of four steps:
- Assessment according to the Capability Maturity Model (SEI Pittsburgh):
AMI provides results with regard to seven aspects:
- organization
- process control
- data management and analysis
- process metrics
- documented standards and procedures
- technology management
- resources, personnel and training
- Analysis of project goals:
AMI analyzes the available information building a goal tree. Using the GQM method it tries to find quantified responses to involved questions.

- Conclusions for the process improvement
