Application domain: process evaluation

Description:

The AMI Tool (Application of Metrics in Industry) [Ami93]combines the experience of different European projects (METKIT, MUSE, PYRAMID, MUSiC). It pursues a strategy consisting of four steps:
  1. Assessment according to the Capability Maturity Model (SEI Pittsburgh):
    AMI provides results with regard to seven aspects:
    1. organization
    2. process control
    3. data management and analysis
    4. process metrics
    5. documented standards and procedures
    6. technology management
    7. resources, personnel and training
  2. Analysis of project goals:
    AMI analyzes the available information building a goal tree. Using the GQM method it tries to find quantified responses to involved questions.
  3. Definition and application of metrics
  4. Conclusions for the process improvement

  • different classes of users:
    Only the administrator may use all functions of the tool.
