Application domain: component classification

Description:

NEXTRA [Next89] classifies user-defined objects according to specific attributes. Attributes are assigned values within a scale from 1 to 9 that can be interpreted differently dependent on the type of object. Assuming that NEXTRA is used for a classification of text processing systems the following model could be defined:

  • objects: text processing systems
  • selected attributes:
    1. number of functions: values: very few(1) .. many(9)
    2. graphical presentation: values: poor(1) .. excellent(9)
As a result NEXTRA visualizes the classification of objects through different graphical presentations. The relations between objects and attributes can be translated to rules for the expert system NEXPERT OBJECT.

Special features:

  • various types of diagrams for the classification of objects

Requirements: MS Windows
