Application domain: component measurement

Description:

PDM (Problem Definition Measurement, [Folt95] ) evaluates problem definitions that are composed with HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). The tool measures selected elements of HTML (HTML commands and structures, text sequences, hyperlinks and images) and interprets them with regard to four aspects:

  • technical terms
  • names (of persons or intstitutions involved in the project)
  • fixed days (important events, deadlines)
  • relations (hyperlinks to related pages or resources)
PDM applies two types of metrics to describe the structural characteristics of the document:
  • size metrics (e.g. length of the document title, size of the document etc)
  • structural metrics (e.g. number of hyperlinks, average number of list elements etc)
The results of these metrics are used as criteria for an empirical evaluation.

Supported Languages: HTML

Special features:

  • measurement and empirical evaluation of problem definition documents

Requirements: UNIX
