Application domain: process evaluation

Description:

SPQR/20 (Software Productivity, Quality and Reliability with regard to 20 influencing factors, [Spqr95] ) uses the experience of Capers Jones for the effort estimation and the quality assessment of a software product being developed. SPQR/20 produces predictions for projects with up to 30 million statements. Its strategy of evaluation is based on an extended version of the Function Point method:

  1. Due to simplifications of the original method Function Points can be counted before all influencing factors a known which accelerates the evaluation.
  2. SPQR/20 also allows the evaluation of existing software that was develped before the invention of Function Points.
  3. The tool attempts to measure the size of the source code for all existing programming languages. This is achieved by a generalized classification of programming languages according to language levels with predefined characteristics.

Supported Languages: applicable to any programming language

Special features:

  • improved Function Point method
  • independent from programming languages

Requirements: DOS
